World Bank forecasts 5.3% growth in Uzbekistan this year

TASHKENT, April 16 (Xinhua) — The World Bank expects Uzbekistan’s economic growth to be 5.3 percent in 2024, according to Uzbek media.

This figure was presented in one of the bank’s economic reports covering Europe and Central Asia. This figure decreased slightly compared to the forecast in the bank’s January report, where the indicator was estimated at 5.5 percent.

Recently, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) also predicted an economic slowdown of up to 5.5 percent in Uzbekistan this year, attributing it to regulated market prices.

Uzbekistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth reached 6% in 2023.
