Vimeo was quick to adopt generative AI into its platform. In June 2023, the video company added a suite of generative AI tools to optimize video creation. Now, Vimeo is directing its AI efforts toward professionals with a new video hub.

On Thursday, Vimeo unveiled Vimeo Central, a AI-hub designed to enable sales teams to exploit the full potential of video communications by leveraging generative AI tools.

“In today’s era of distributed work, effective team collaboration and employee engagement take on new urgency,” said Adam Gross, interim CEO of Vimeo. “With Vimeo Central, businesses of all sizes can become video-first organizations. »

According to Vimeo, the video hub works in tandem with the client’s various video platforms, including Zoom, Webex, Google Drive, Dropbox and Box, to support uploading all content into a single video library, centralized hub and secure.

Not only does this make it easier to locate any necessary video, but it also allows teams to interact more productively with all video-related information by taking advantage of advanced tools capable of searching not only video titles but also video transcriptions.

Vimeo Central also offers AI tools to help users stay on top of information they’re missing. For example, users can condense hours of video into a short trailer, avoiding the need to watch the entire video themselves.

AI tools can also generate text summaries, add chapters to videos, generate titles and FAQs, and even answer questions with the exact moment in the recording that users need to watch to find their answers.

Vimeo Central also offers a recording studio with a built-in teleprompter, analytics to track team monitoring data, including information on who on the team watched what, and a new editor for tweaking messages.

Although many video conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Otter.ai have implemented similar features, what sets Vimeo’s offering apart is that it integrates video from all the different platforms in one place, making it a streamlined hub. Vimeo Central is an enterprise-only package, but some of its features, including AI, are offered as consumer self-service packages.
