The National Weather Service issued a flood warning Saturday evening until 8 p.m. for parts of Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties, as isolated thunderstorms with heavy rain, lightning and hail moved through the region.

The flood advisory followed a severe thunderstorm warning issued by the agency at 4:30 p.m. for parts of Santa Clara County, with the possibility of penny-sized hail and winds of up to 60 miles per hour until 5 p.m.

Hail was reported by residents living in the Santa Cruz Mountains and hills of eastern San Jose earlier in the afternoon.
