Mountain lion attacks two brothers, killing one and injuring the other

A mountain lion killed one man and left another with “traumatic injuries” to his face, authorities in the US state of California said.

The two brothers were searching for lost antlers when they were attacked by the mountain lion in Georgetown, a remote area of ​​El Dorado County.

The younger brother, 18, called the county sheriff’s office Saturday afternoon to report that he and his 21-year-old brother had been attacked by the lion.

The police arrived around 1:30 p.m. and found the young man injured in the face.

About 15 minutes later, they found the mountain lion crouching over the older brother’s body.

The animal was frightened when police fired their weapons and is now on the run, being sought by guards.

Mountain lions have attacked humans before, but the last fatal encounter occurred in 2004 in Orange County, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
