LSU star Angel Reese posts cryptic message amid rumors about his playing status

LSU basketball star Angel Reese posted a cryptic message on social media Sunday as rumors swirled about why she disappeared from the Tigers roster.

Reese was not with the team Friday night during their 73-50 win over Southeastern Louisiana. She was benched during the second half of their 109-79 victory over Kent State Tuesday.

But as rumors swirl about why, Reese posted a message on X.

“Please don’t believe everything you read,” she wrote.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey also offered a cryptic message Friday night.

“Angel is on this basketball team and we hope to see her as soon as possible,” Mulkey said.

She offered no further explanation and answered no additional questions about Reese. No LSU players were made available for postgame interviews.

Reese started the first four games of the season and averaged 17 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. LSU was 3-1 during that span, with the only loss coming in the opener against Colorado.

Reese became one of the best players in women’s college basketball last season when she helped the Tigers defeat Iowa in the national championship. She was nicknamed “Bayou Barbie” and appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

Her 34 double-doubles last season and her 23 consecutive double-doubles to start last season broke Sylvia Fowles’ previous record of 19.
