Louis Vuitton manufactures personalized trunks for the flames and medals of the Paris Games

PARIS: The Olympic and Paralympic flames will each travel this summer in a custom-made Louis Vuitton trunk thanks to a sponsorship agreement with brand owner LVMH.

Louis Vuitton also made medal trunks that open onto prominent display cases, with dozens of drawers each holding three medals.

The world’s biggest luxury brand – known for its flower-shaped monograms and checkered tote bags – unveiled the trunks on Wednesday in the workshops where they were made just outside Paris.

Louis Vuitton has been making trophy cases since 1988, increasing the French brand’s visibility by linking it to popular sporting events, such as the Rugby World Cup held last year in France.

As part of its sponsorship contract for the Paris Olympics worth 150 million euros, several LVMH brands are involved in the Games, including the Place Vendôme jeweler Chaumet, which designed the medals, and the high-end men’s brand Berluti, creator of the French team uniforms. .

The Olympics begin on July 26, followed by the Paralympics on August 28 with opening ceremonies watched by millions around the world.
