Kate Ritchie breaks down live on air

Kate Ritchie broke down in tears live on air this morning as she took a trip down memory lane with Australian country music star Troy Cassar-Daley.

The actress turned radio host was surprised when her co-hosts Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael “Wippa” Wipfli invited the legendary musician as a guest on their show Nova 96.9,Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie.

The segment started off well with Ritchie and Cassar-Daley singing a duet of the 60s banger. Give me Love’the same song they sang during their participation in the celebrity singing competition It takes two in 2006.

The show, which aired on Seven between 2006 and 2008, brought together 10 of Australia’s best-loved celebrities with renowned singers to mentor them in their quest for the title – Ritchie was paired with Cassar-Daley and she came fourth in the ’emission.

18 years later, her co-hosts urged her to relive that moment, so she and the country music star — who have become good friends over the years — took the mic again. It’s safe to say they still have it, even after all these years.

However, their trip down memory lane quickly turned to tears when Ritchie revealed that Cassar-Daley was scheduled to perform at his wedding in 2010, but he was out of town.

“When I got married in 2010, Troy wasn’t able to attend the wedding and instead… Sorry,” she said as tears flowed freely.

“Do you know what happened?” » explained the singer as Ritchie sobbed. “I was living in Nashville and my studio was in the closet of this little rental house. And I’m just going to do a little chorus and that’s it…”

He then began singing the song he had written and sent it to the wedding.Make the most of (every day with you).

“I’m going to make the most of every day with you. Because good things don’t last long. And this world can hurt you,” he sang.

Ritchie married then-NRL star Stuart Webb in a lavish ceremony at the Quamby Estate in Tasmania in 2010, a year after their engagement. They welcomed their daughter Mae in 2014.

The couple sadly separated, ending their nine-year marriage in 2020.
