Holland America deaths: Two crew members die after ‘incident’ on cruise ship in Bahamas


Two crew members died on a Holland America cruise ship during an “incident” in the ship’s technical area, the cruise line said.

The two men died on Friday while the Nieuw Amsterdam liner was on the small island of Half Moon Cay in the BahamasHolland America added in a statement.

Authorities have been notified and the cause is under investigation.

Other crew members received counseling.

Holland America said it was “deeply saddened” by the deaths, adding: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of our team members during this difficult time.

“The safety, security and well-being of all guests and crew is the company’s top priority.”

No further details about the crew members were shared.

The ship, which can carry more than 2,000 people, set sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on March 16 for a seven-night voyage.
