Here’s where The Body Shop is closing its doors in Canada

The famous beauty brand The Body Shop Canada Ltd. closes just over 30 stores across Canada.

The Canadian subsidiary of the international brand announced Friday that it would immediately begin liquidating nearly a third of its 105 stores.

There are 33 stores closing in Canada, about half of which are in Ontario. Here’s where stores are closing across the country:

The cosmetics company said its US branch had also halted operations, following The Body Shop International Ltd’s application for administration. in the UK, allowing the company to restructure or wind down its operations without repaying its debts. It says it is also shutting down e-commerce operations.

For Canada, The Body Shop hopes court proceedings in Ontario will give it “wiggle room” while it considers alternatives, although the company hopes to keep most of its stores. The company did not say how many employees would be out of work due to store closures.

The Body Shop has had a significant presence in Canadian malls since its foray into the country in 1980, but has faced some challenges competing with other beauty brands like Sephora, Bath & Body Works and Lush.
