Denis Hamlin earned his second victory of the season holding off Joey Logano, Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr. at Richmond Raceway on Sunday night.

The race went into overtime after an incident involving Larson and Bubba Wallace with about two laps remaining. Larson broke away and checked the track with two laps remaining, causing Wallace to get behind him and spin him.

Denny Hamlin crosses the line

Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 Mavis Tires & Brakes Toyota, takes the checkered flag to win the NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway on March 31, 2024 in Richmond, Virginia.

The leaders pitted and Hamlin won with Logano behind him. Larson was able to make a good pit stop and get back in front of Wallace, who fell to 16th on the restart.

Hamlin made a good jump to restart the race and was able to push back Truex. The number 19 led for most of the race and his frustrations flared at the end, crashing into Larson several times after the race ended.

Truex was frustrated speaking to Fox Sports, believing Hamlin got a head start before crossing the line into the restart zone. The broadcaster said NASCAR was not investigating the final laps.

It was a local victory for Hamlin – and the 53rd of his career. He already scored a victory in the Food City 500 two races ago and appears to be in control of the NASCAR playoffs.

Logano needed a strong finish after a brutal start to the season. He finished below the top 25 in three of the first seven races. He finished 22nd at Bristol and 11th at Circuit of the Americas. A second-place finish should boost his confidence heading into Martinsville next week.

Chase Elliott, Christopher Bell, William Byron, Brad Keselowski, Chris Buescher and Tyler Reddick round out the top 10.
