Chinese central bank issues clearing license to MasterCard joint venture

BEIJING: China’s central bank announced on Sunday (Nov 19) that it had granted a clearing license to a joint venture established by MasterCard.

The joint venture, established in China by MasterCard and NetsUnion Clearing Corporation, may authorize its member institutions to issue “MasterCard”-branded Yuan bank cards in China, the People’s Bank of China said.
